This Saturday (August 8th), the 4th Annual Veteran Appreciation Day will be held at the Cherokee County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

This year's theme will be "Welcome Home Troops from all Conflicts."

There will be a Craft Show, and representatives from the Sioux City Vet Center, representative from Senator Tom Harkin's office in Sioux City and the Sioux Falls VA Hospital will be present to answer any questions and explain their programs. Also scheduled to be present are area Service Representatives and someone from the Iowa Vet Cemetery. There will be Military Units, Ice Cream, Music, Service Organizations, and military items for sale.

"Schwan's Ice Cream is on board and they will be holding a fundraiser with part of the proceeds going to the Veteran Appreciation Day" said Dana Evans, Cherokee County Veteran Affairs Director.

A free lunch will be served, and the day's festivities honoring our veterans will conclude with a concert featuring Britt Small, known as the "Musical Voice of America's Veterans." Small is the only Vietnam Vet who has sung at the Vietnam Wall in Washington D.C., and he is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

For more information, or to volunteer to help with this year's celebration, contact Dana Evans at 225-6319 or 282-4360.
