Cherokee Athletic Boosters Golf Tourney Aug. 23

The Cherokee Athletic Boosters will stage their 7th annual Golf Tournamnet on Sunday August 23 at the Cherokee Country Club. The format is "4 Person Best Shot," and golfers must register by August 17th.

The cost is $45 per player, and that includes 18 holes of golf, a buffet meal, and "lots of fun."

For $100, golfers can sponsor a sign and be part of the "Friends of the Braves" sign display. For $300, golfers can be a hole sponsor, getting your name on a sign at one of nine holes, as well as recognition in the media and at the event itself. For $750, four golfers can play, get meals,and sign and media recognition. $1500 buys a Corporate Sponsorship, permitting eight golfers to play and get meals, along with sponsoring a sign and media and event recognition.

Golfers who cannot participate but would still like to make a donation to the Athletic Boosters may certainly do so, and anyone who would like to donate a prize for the event is ceratinly welcome to do so as well.

The schedule for the day on August 23 begins with a "Shotgun" start at 12 noon, and a great buffet-style meal, served by the Hy-Vee deli, follows the golf. Sponsors will be recognized at the meal, and prizes will also be awarded. The coaching staffs of the Washington High School athletic teams will also be present to provide brief overviews of their programs.

The Cherokee Athletic Boosters help support the students and staff of the Cherokee Braves family. Recent purchases by the Boosters include a Wind Screen for the tennis court and Batting cages for baseball and softball. Fture items which Boosters plan to fund include a scoreboard for the softball field, a basketball "shooting machine," and railings for the bleachers at George Hicks Field.
