Exciting things continue to happen at the Prairie Heritage Center

Monday, August 10, 2009

A Bison Burger Picnic and Lawn Concert will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009 at the Prairie Heritage Center. Food will be served from 5 p.m. 7:30 p.m. Bison burgers will be hot off the grill, and served with side dishes and watermelon.

The annual fall event, sponsored by the Little Sioux Valley Conservation Association and the O'Brien County Conservation Board , is a great opportunity for the public to see the changes that have occurred at the Center this past year.

After the meal, enjoy a pleasant evening listening to Americana music by Byron Kuehl. Bring your lawn chair for the outdoor concert, and relax with your neighbors. Tickets for the event are $7 for adults, $3 for ages five through eight, and those under five years of age are free. Advance tickets can be purchased from the Conservation Board, and tickets will also be available at the door.Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will help by matching some of the funds raised. Proceeds will help to fund educational exhibits.

The O'Brien County Conservation Board is also hosting another event to help you explore the night sky during 2009 The Year of Astronomy. This month's event is Perseid Meteor Magic. Meet at the Prairie Heritage Center on Thursday, August 13 at 9:00 p.m. to learn a bit about meteors with a fun activity.
