Though their team went winless in the IHSBC All-Star series played at Carroll last weekend, Cherokee county players Jacob Lehnhoff and Matt Koch did all right.
In their first game, their Small Schools West team, dropped a one-run decsison to the Large Schools East team, 4-3.
Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn southpaw hurler Lehnhoff started on the mound for the West Squad, and pitched well. Jacob pitched five innings, giving up nine hits and three earned runs, walking two and sending seven Wast players down on strikes. Cherokee's Koch played errorless ball at first base and shortstop, went 1-4 at the plate, and scored a run.
In their second contest, the Small Schools East team beat Small Schools West, 7 -1. Koch played shortstop and was 0-4 at the plate., and Lehnhoff was the starting DH, going 0-2. Koch pitched 1 inning in relief, and gave up one hit, one run, and fanned two.
In their final game of the series, the Small Schools West team fell to the Large Schools West team, 5-1. Neither Lehnhoff nor Koch played in that game.
The Large Schools East won the series with a 3-0 record, and the Large Schools West was second , with a 2-1 mark. The championship game between the two on Sunday was rained out.
