BOONE - The Iowa High School Athletic Association has announced that here have been 10 rule changes in high school football, effective this fall, "some of which the typical fan will not notice, since they apply to definitions, field markings and equipment."

Most notable among changes - the horse collar tackle is defined and penalized as a illegal personal foul; a penalty resulting in a safety on the last timed down of a period does not extend the period; the options of the scoring team on a dead-ball, non-player, or unsportsmanlike foul during or after a touchdown scoring play has the option of enforcing the penalty on the subsequent kick-off; and the mandatory three-minute warm-up period begins immediately following the conclusion of the halftime intermission.
