Goodwill Trailer to receive local donations

Monday, August 24, 2009

Goodwill's Ambassador Trailer will be receiving donations in Washta, Cherokee, and Aurelia in upcoming days.

Donations will be received in Washta beginning September 2 until September 9, with the Ambassador Trailer parked in the Cargo Espress parking lot south of the convenient store.

The Ambassador Trailer will be in Cherokee September 8 for one day only in the southwest corner of Bomgaars parking lot.

The Trailer will be in Aurelia beginning September 9. The last time the Trailer was in Aurelia, Ambassador volunteers helped collect 22,550 pounds of donated materials which are then distributed to any or all of the 16 Goodwill regional store locations.

The last time the Trailer was in Cherokee, 89,950 pounds of donated materials were collected for Goodwill distribution.

The last time the Trailer was in Washta, 2,500 pounds of donated materials were collected for Goodwill distribution.

These donations enable Goodwill to provide services to more than 200 program participants in a variety of locations, and helps provide jobs for 400 Goodwill employees in four states.

Donations are to be placed as far to the front of the Trailer as possible. Furniture and large appliances cannot be accepted.

Goodwill gratefully accepts donations of sellable clothing, usable working small appliances, and household goods, sporting goods, and toys.

The donations are processed and sold in Goodwill stores to support the programs and services Goodwill provides for people with disabilities and disadvantaged conditions.

Goodwill is a non-profit organization providing services to hundreds of people with employment barriers. With the help of Goodwill, they are able to receive training, which will enable them to become productive wage earners and tax-paying members of their communities.
