Benefit to help Katie (Schueder) Mangan

Monday, August 24, 2009

WAUKEE - On Sept. 26 there will be a 5k run in Waukee to benefit Katie Mangan , former Cherokee resident and 1997 graduate of Cherokee Washington High School. Katie is the daughter of Dan and Charlotte Schueder of Cherokee and is married to former Cherokee resident and WHS graduate Timothy Mangan.

On May 6, 2009 Katie was diagnosed with Stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma, breast cancer. Katie had just turned 30 in March when she felt a lump in her right breast.

Katie is currently a stay at home mom taking care of her two little girls Haleigh age 4, and Hannah now 14 months old.

Katie's Crusaders are on a mission to support Katie in her battle against breast cancer and are asking for your help. A 5k Crusader Run will be held in Waukee, Iowa on September 26, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. All proceeds from the run will benefit Katie during her fight.

If you are interested in her benefit you can log onto HYPERLINK "http://www.katiescrusaders.org/" \t "_blank"www.katiescrusaders.org. to register, donate or sponsor her campaign against breast cancer. Anyone wanting information can call: Charlotte Schueder at 712-225-2291.

Katie has set up an account at North Star Community Credit Union in Cherokee for those who would like to help her with her crusade.

The family thanks the many friends and family who have supported Katie during these difficult months since her diagnosis. While Katie has a long road ahead of her, it is easier with the love and support that she has received from Cherokee, her home town!
