Raymond D. O'Neal, 65, of Colorado Springs, Colo. and former resident of Cherokee, died July 30, 2009 in Colorado Springs, following a lengthy illness.
A memorial service was held on Friday Aug. 7, 2009 in the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo.
He was born Aug. 19, 1943 in Cherokee, to Henry and Martha O'Neal. He attended school in Cherokee, graduating from Washington High School in 1961.
Raymond enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in California. Following his military career he returned to Cherokee doing various jobs. He moved to California in 1979. In 1990 he moved to Colorado Springs and worked for many years as a sheet metal fabricator, making skylights and highway signs.
He is survived by daughters, Cindy Schluter, of Spokane, Washington; Shannon Cosgrove, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, Brian O'Neal, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren.
