Archery boosters sponsor 'Buck' contest

The Full Draw Archery Club (FDAC) of Cherokee is announcing the 3rd Annual Big Buck Contest for this fall, with all proceeds used to promote archery to the youth in the community, such as the 4-H archery program and free admission to all youth FDAC events.

The entry fee for the Big Buck Contest is $10 and must be paid before October 1, the opening day of bow season. The entered buck must be harvested in Iowa and taken with archery equipment.

The official scoring format will be the gross score of total inches of the antlers. The scoring will be conduct ed by an official Pope & Young scorer in early December at KC Taxidermy in Cleghorn.

The first-place winner will receive a full shoulder mount of the winning buck donated by Kevin Chris tensen of KC Taxidermy of Cleghorn. Second place will receive a ladder stand donated by Bill's Custom Pressure Washing, and third place is a 3-D deer target donated by the FDAC.

Also all Big Buck Contest entries will be placed into a drawing for a new 2009 Ross Cardiac compound bow and accessory package ($749 value) donated by Everlasting Memories and Double F Construction.
