Sutherland Labor Day Celebration is jam-packed

Three-day event full of exciting activities for all

The table is set for the 2009 Sutherland Labor Day Celebration, Saturday through Monday, September 5-6-7.

The popular three-day affair kicks off Saturday, Sept. 5, when Adam Sand hurst & Jolly Jammers perform at the Legion Hall from 6-10 p.m. From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., the band Judd Hoos plays for the Street Dance on Main Street.

An Antique Tractor Ride is scheduled for noon on Sunday, Sept. 6, to be

followed by the popular multi-vehicle Burn-Out contest at 1 p.m.

A "Park & Shine" cruise and poker run will also be held from 2-7 p.m.on Sunday.

From 4:30-7 p.m. on Sunday the Bethlehem Lutheran Church will host a Ham & Beef Supper, and a Street Dance on Main Street will feature the band "Hundred Proof," from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Monday's Labor Day festivities begin with the big Parade at 11 a.m., which attracts dozens of colorful entries from near and far. There will be volleyball and horseshoe tournaments in the City Park, with registration from noon to 1 p.m., and there will also be many kids' games in the Park, free mini train rides, and a bouncy gym.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Methodist Church will serve lunch, and the Saddle Club will have a horse show at 1 p.m . Food vendors will alsol be serving hot dogs, burgers, mini doughnuts, refreshments, and much more. At 2 p.m. on Monday there will be kids' races for ages 1-9; Lyle Koehlmoos' Comcertina Music performs from 12:30 -1 p.m., and former Nashville performer Colleen Walters presents her "Patsy Cline Tribute" from 1-2 p.m.

Starting at 3 p.m. Monday, local singers Faith Jalas, Lily Friedrichsen, Bryan Goettsch, and Rita DeBoom-Schau perform. At 3:30 p.m. free ice cream bars will be served in the park, courtesy of Security State Bank.

The annual Labor Day Celebration is sponsored by the community of Sutherland.
