It's hard to believe that summer is over and it's time to hit the books again.
The Cherokee Public Library will be starting our youth programs beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8.
On Sept. 8 the Preschool Story Time will be back and will run from 10:30 a.m. -- 11 a.m. This program is for children three to five years old and will meet every Tuesday. During this half hour the children will listen to stories, sing songs, participate in finger plays, and have fun. Crafts will be a part of the program if there is time and it goes with the story time.
The After School Bunch will meet only on the third Tuesday of each month from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. The program will start on Sept. 15 and children in kindergarten through 4th grade are welcome to come. Those interested in coming will need to ride school bus #3 and an adult will meet them across the street from the fire station and walk to the library.
Homeschoolers @ the Library will be offered on the second Wednesday of each month from 2 p.m. -- 3 p.m. Anyone who is homeschooling and would like the chance to share ideas and materials with other Home Schooling families come join us. The library has magazines to help with ideas and many books to use and check out. Come join us for the first meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
A Toddler Story Time will meet on the second Thursday of each month. This story time is open to parents and their one or two year old children. The first story time for toddlers will be Thursday, Sept. 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Moms and dads this will be a chance to spend some special time with your child through stories, learning rhymes to use at home with your child, and games you can play with them when changing the diaper, getting them dressed, or feeding them. So come and discover some new ways to interact with your child.
The Youth in Action Program for 5th through 6th graders will meet after school on the second Thursday from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
The first meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 10. Each month we will have a special program.
All of these programs will meet in the youth story time room in the children's department upstairs.
I look forward to seeing everyone. If you have any questions you can call the library at 225-3498 and ask for Peg, the Children's and Youth Librarian.
