Women, grab your friends and head outdoors to try some interesting new things. The National Turkey Federation and the Conservation Boards from Lyon, O'Brien and Sioux Counties are sponsoring the annual "Women in the Outdoors" event. There is no limit to the fun and thrill of learning that you can experience at this workshop.

This year's event will be held at the Prairie Heritage Center, near Sutherland, on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 8 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Activities will include Dutch Oven Cooking, Flintknapping and Spear Throwing, Landscape Exploration, Marksmanship, Pottery and Lessons about Bison. There is no upper age limit for the event; but young ladies ages 14-17 are asked to attend with an adult.

Advance registration is required, and a $40 workshop fee covers a National Turkey Federation membership, subscription to the Turkey Federation magazine, door prizes, activity materials, and a noon meal. For more information or to register, please contact the O'Brien County Conservation Board.
