MOVILLE - The 12th-ranked Galva-Holstein volleyball squad went four games to defeat Woodbury Central here last week, claiming game scores of 25-22, 21-25, 25-10, 25-20.
The Lady Pirates were 89-97 team hitting with 39 kills, and served at an 81-percent clip with a 70-86 night and 15 service aces. Team digs totaled 57, team assists 36, and team blocks six.
Brooke Wiese was the G-H kill leader with 12, followed by Victoria Andresen 11, and Heidi Rollefson eight. Assist leaders were Jaimie Christensen with 17, and Brea Slaybaugh 14. Wiese also led her team in ace serves with seven, while Shannon Rohlk tallied four. Rollefson led the Pirates in blocks with three, and Nicole Boyle totaled two.
"We passed the ball very well our of serve receive," said G-H coach Scott Mitchell. "We had some stretches where we played great volleyball, and we had some times where our intensity slipped.
"We need to focus on more consistent play, especially with our serving. You won't win many matches serving 81 percent."
The 2-0 Pirates play at a triangular at River Valley in Correctionville Thursday night also featuring Cherokee.
