The Sanford Museum and Planetarium in Cherokee will host a special astronomy night at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Holstein on Friday beginning at 9 p.m.
The event is being held in honor of Dave Lund, a former Cherokee resident now residing in the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Lund was one of the Museum's original members of the Northwest Iowa Astronomy Club, and he enjoyed many nights star gazing with the group.
Weather permitting, the public is invited to join the Museum staff for a night of looking through the Museum's telescope, as well as taking a tour of the constellations.
The event is free and open to the public.
