Fall Ladies' Night Out coming up

Thursday, September 17, 2009

Ladies' Night Out is planning another fun evening on Monday, Sept. 28 at The Family Life Center of the Meriden Evangelical Free Church in Meriden. The evening will begin with a light supper of soups, sandwiches and desserts at 6:30 p.m.

"We have a charming scarecrow and fall atmosphere planned for a down-home, relaxing, and fun time," says Shirley Peters, chair of the event. "We always look forward to gathering women from all around the area to meet with old friends as well as to make some new friendships and connections."

The special feature of the evening will be the introduction of some local women entrepreneurs. Guests will receive their contact information and there will be drawings for gifts, donated by the businesswomen. At the end of the evening, all of them will be available to the guests at a meet-and-greet where the entrepreneurs will be handing out flyers, business cards or coupons.

Guests will also enjoy some light-hearted Cajun music by the evening's featured speaker. Her presentation, "Don't Sell Yourself Short!" is a humorous approach to going for what you really want. Nancy Winings of Chambers, Neb. is married to a rancher and owns and operates the Winings Guest House (a small Bed & Breakfast) and Doggone Good Antiques. She has been in direct sales and fund raising for 30 years and will share a life-changing experience that happened on her sales route. It ties into an earlier time in her life when friends had made remarks to her not to "sell herself short"... and to "go for the best." Nancy also enjoys carpentry, gardening and playing a variety of musical instruments.

Tickets are $8 paid for at the door, but reservations are necessary and will be accepted until Friday, Sept. 25 or to capacity. Call Sue (376-4405) or Shirley (436-2637). Cancellations will be taken until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27. After that time, please find your replacement or call Shirley to check the waiting list or to arrange for payment of your ticket.
