Bulldogs lose to Ar-We-Va, 57- 0

AURELIA - It was another long night on the gridiron for the host team here on Friday, as the Bulldogs dropped a 57 - 0 decision to Ar-We-Va in District One Eight-Player football. The visiting Rockets scored four touchdowns on running plays, three on passes, one on an interception return, and also kicked a field goal, as they led 14-0, 31-0 and 51-0 at the quarter breaks.

Senior Taylor Witzel again led the young Bulldog squad on defense as he made 12 tackles. Witzel also ran the ball 19 times on offense, but netted only 27 yards for his efforts. Fellow senior Elliott Zadow had eight tackles for Aurelia and freshman Cory Ballantyne had seven. Austin Glawe had a pass interception and Kevin Hernandez recovered a fumble.

Kyle Menke led the Bulldog rushing with 30 yards on nine carries; and quarterback Steve Handwork completed 4 of 11 attempts, three of them to Glawe. Handwork also had two of his aerials intercepted.

The Bulldogs will play their Homecoming game this Friday, when they take on Spalding Catholic (0-4).
