MMC girls split WEC VB matches

MARCUS - Remsen-Union swept all three games from Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn in War Eagle Conference volleyball action here Tuesday night. Game scores were not submitted.

Monday night, the host Eagles defeated Granville Spalding 3-1 in WEC play.

Against R-U, Erica Dreckman led the eagles in hitting with a 25-31 effort and nine kills, followed by Jalyn Doeden 19-22 and six kills, Kayla Foresman 16-18 and six kills, and Ashley Schneider 14-17 and three kills. Foresman had a whopping 10 blocks to lead that category.

Jackie Holmes led MMC in serving with 13-13, while Doeden was 12-14, Megan Deichmann 12-15, Ashley Weber 8-11, and Dreckman 7-11. Dreckman led MMC in digs with 24, Foresman had 16, and Weber and Doeden eight each. Holmes also led in assists with 12, and Deichmann had nine.

In the win over Spalding, Doeden led in hitting with a 25-32 effort and eight kills, followed by Foresman 23-26 and five kills, Dreckman 17-20 and six kills, Schneider 13-17 and four kills, Stephanie Specht 9-10 and two kills, and Taylor Hohbach 9-11 and one kill. Foresman and Schneider each tallied 11 blocks at net, and Doeden had five.

Deichmann and Holmes led the Eagles in assists with 12 each, and Dreckman totaled 24 digs, and Deichmann and Foresman nine each, with Doeden and Specht each registering seven.

Holmes led a solid serving effort for MMC with a 22-22 night and six aces, followed by Foresman 15-19 and five aces, Doeden 17-19 and seven aces, Deichmann 14-15 and one ace, Weber 13-13 and one ace, and Dreckman 5-10 and two aces.

MMC plays in the Granville Spalding Tournament Saturday.
