The Cherokee girls placed 11th in the rugged field, with all six varsity runners claiming personal best times this season.
Katy Hart led the WHS girls to the finish line, placing 64th in 17:57, followed by Chyenne Mortenson 70th in 18:19, Amanda Kohn 77th in 19:11, Stephanie Aguillar 81st in 21:52, Amanda Lewis 82nd in 22:)8, and Abby Hayes 83rd in 22:40.
Although not featuring enough runners to figure in the team standings, the Cherokee boys also had four runners establishing personal bests at Sheldon. They were Ňustin Winchell 66th in 19:17, Jaden Lux 67th in 19:22, John Bieber 70th in 19:33, and Conner Ogren 79th in 24:54.
"The team had an awesome meet!" exclaimed first-year coach Jolene Hultgren. "It was great weather and everyone - every single team member - had a personal best.
"All the runners are improving with each meet and that has been our gauge for determining the progress throughout the season. The kids are looking forward to the last half of the season, including the Lakes Conference Meet and Districts."
Cherokee runs at the Hull Westerm Christian Meet Tuesday, and hosts the Cherokee Invitational at the MHI course on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
