RV seeking to share football program with K-P

CORRECTIONVILLE - The River Valley Board of Education adminstered the Oath of Office to newly elected Board members Scott Carnes in District 1, and Dawn McCrea in District 4 at last week's regular meeting.

McCrea ran for re-election in the September 8 School Election, and Carnes did not seek another term. However, he was elected by write-in votes and has accepted the position.

Carnes also was elected Board President, and Kirk Utesch was elected Vice-President.

Board committee positions were then assigned, with Carnes and McCrea named to Negotiations, Kim Norris and Utesch named to School Improvement, Lyle Paulsen and Utesch named to Buildings and Grounds, Norris and Paulsen named as Liaisons, McCrea named to the Sherman Scholarship Committee, and Carnes to the Linn Scholarship Committee.

Paulsen also was elected to serve as Board delegate to the Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB).

The Board also approved faculty contract changes for Laura Peuse, and for Amy Lahrs and Sarah Voyles, who have advanced in the salary placement schedule.

The Board approved a request for Jane Harris to take the art club on a trip to Omaha, Neb., and accepted the resignation of Harris as Junior Class sponsor. A contract for Polly Meissner as Junior Class Sponsor was then approved by the Board.

In other action, the Board approved sending a letter to the Kingsley-Pierson Community School District asking if K-P has an interest in sharing football programs in the future.
