CRETE, Neb. - Cherokee's Kara Nelson, a junior at Morningside College, was the individual champion at the Doane College Dean White Invitational Cross Country meet here on Saturday. Nelson's time of 18:57.37 over the 5k course helped her Mustang team take the team championship as well. Morningside, ranked 19th nationally in the NAIA, had six of the top 11 finishers, and finished with 20 points, outdistancing the host squad, which scored 47 points, and four other teams. Nelson's teammate, Erin Keitges, was the individual runner-up, with a time of 19:18.65.
The Mustangs will compete Friday at the Grand View Invitational in Des Moines.
