Wolverines roll over Southeast Webster

BURNSIDE - The River Valley Wolverines rolled to a convincing 30-6 non-district win over Southeast Webster-Grand here on Friday. RV started off the scoring with a safety, then added four touchdowns.

Cody Paris led the Wolverine ground attack, gaining 104 yards on 22 carries, while Blaine Cullen and Austin Hansen contributed an additional 53 and 44 yards, respectively, to the Wolverines' total rushing yards.

Andrew Volkert and Austin Hansen both completed 50% of their pass attempts, with Volkert completing 3-6 for 44 yards and one TD and Hansen completing 5-10 for 81 yards and 2 TDs. Hansen was on the receiving end of Volkert's 27-yard TD pass, and caught two more for an additional 17 yards. Ryan Ketelsen, who scored the game opening safety for the RV defense, caught two passes for 47 yards, including a 20-yarder from Hansen, and Blaine Cullen also snared a 20-yard touchdown pass from Hansen, in addition to returning an errant SE Webster pass 24 yards for the Wolverines' final touchdown.

Cody Paris and Jacob Preuss also grabbed interceptions for the RV defense. Paris led the team in tackles with nine, and Cullen and Preuss each had five for coach Brian Winkler's Wolverine squad, which won its first game after four losses.

The Wolverines will host Alta in Correctionville Friday evening for their Homecoming game. The Cyclones are also 1-4 this season.
