Athletes, coaches, administrators, parents & boosters are invited to strengthen their character at the "Pursuing Victory With Honor Summit,"
featuring ISU Basketball Coach Greg McDermott, on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, from 8 am - 3pm at Morningside College in Sioux City.
In addition to two keynote presentations, and participants will also attend two breakout sessions on topics including dealing with adversity, leadership, character, and more.
Presenters for the Breakout Sessions include Jim Sykes, head basketball coach, Morningside College; Jim Scholten, head baseball coach, Morningside College; Steve Ryan, head football coach, Morningside College; Dave Nash, head track coach, Morningside College; Erin Keitges, Morningside College, senior athlete; Tim Jager, head wrestling coach, Morningside College; Tom Maxon, head soccer coach, Morningside College; Beth Kolbo, South Sioux City teacher and coach;Dr. Alan Heisterkamp, education consultant, Waitt Institute for Violence Prevention; Gary Niles, Chief Juvenile Court Officer; Dr. Heather Reid, philosophy professor and department chair, Morningside College and past president of the International Association for the Philosophy of Sport ; Roger Jansen, head football coach, Heelan High School ; Tunisia Billings, Sioux City teacher and assistant track coach, Morningside College; Dr. Susan Burns, psychology professor, Morningside College;
and Jerry Schmutte, athletic director, Morningside College.
The program , which can be used for Coaching Authorization renewal credit, is presented by Iowa Health System, in partnership with the Iowa High School Athletic Association, Morningside College Athletic Department, the Iowa Games and the National Guard of Iowa, Registration fee is $25 per person.
