Recently Dr. Dan Gillette, Superintendent at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute announced that the MHI would be holding informational meetings regarding the MHI Closure Task Force. The meetings are to help community leaders stay informed throughout the time that the MHI Closure Task Force continues to collect information on the other MHIs.
The Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation is looking for those who are interested to attend these meetings, in hopes that after the first of the new year CAEDC will be able to make a trip to Des Moines to meet with the legislators to discuss this issue further.
Similar to the "Day at the Capital" trips that are made every year in January, these meetings will help to keep everyone educated about the function of the Cherokee MHI and on top of information as it becomes available. These meetings are scheduled for Oct. 20, Nov. 3, Nov. 17 and Dec. 1, and will be held on Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. in the J.May Room at the MHI. If you are interested in attending these meetings or if you are interested in serving on this important committee contact Marci Brown at 225-5739 or email@example.com. The number of people to sit on this committee will not be limited, but if you are interested you may attend. Please respond no later than Oct. 15.
There will have been two other MHI reviews by the Task Force by that time, and those reviews will be subject for discussion.
