PSAT tests for WHS students at WITCC

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

The PSAT (Preliminary SAT) will be offered to interested sophomores and juniors at Cherokee Washington High School on Wednesday, October 14 at the Western Iowa Tech Community College campus.

Testing times will run from 8:15 to 11:30 A.M. The PSAT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for junior testers, but is also offered to sophomores who wish to try the testing process one year before being competitive.

Unlike the PLAN test and the ACT that test a student's current level of education, the questions in the PSAT and SAT assess critical thinking skills by requiring students to apply the information they already know.

The PSAT is offered to those students who enjoy an academic challenge and wish to be competitive in the world of education. The cost of testing is $13.00 per student.

Those wishing to participate in the PSAT may sign up in the guidance office. Checks may be made payable to Washington High School. Students and parents needing more information may call Deb Hankens at Washington High School, 225-6755.
