Fall Rendezvous is this weekend

The Cherokee Ridge Runner's Fall Rendezvous will be held on Saturday and Sunday at the Little Sioux Wildlife Area southwest of Cherokee and the public is welcome during daylight hours.

On Saturday there will be a Novelty Shoot and Hawk and Knife Throw events. There will different shoots throughout the day starting at 9 a.m. and continuing at the top of every hour until noon when there will be a break for lunch. Events will resume at 1 p.m., followed by the Shotgun Trap Shoot in the afternoon and kid events will also take place throughout the day.

Camping fees are $20 for primitive, $25 for modern, $10 for single, and range fee is $10. Camp fee includes Saturday Camp Feed (family camp is limited to five meal tickets). Meal tickets are $3.50 per person. There is limited water and firewood.

There will be a 5 p.m. Rendezvous Wedding for Carl and Val Johnson of Plattsmouth, Neb. After the wedding there will be a White Buffalo Award in remembrance of the late Tom Nelson of Cherokee.

Scouts who are planning to attend are asked to be in uniform (cap, sash or troop badge) to receive camping and meal discount.

There will be several novelty shooting events including In-Line Muzzleloaders, plus the Hawk and Knife Throw. Remember to post and pull your own targets on the range and bring your own staple gun.

The Fall Rendezvous is held at Little Sioux Wildlife Area located southwest of Cherokee. It's five miles South on Highway 59, turn west onto county road C44, turn South onto the River Road and then turn East on 590th St. (gravel road) and turn South to the entrance to the Little Sioux Wildlife Area.
