AURELIA - Aurelia volleyball coach Ann Dornack said she was very proud of how her team played in a non-conference match with Kingsley-Pierson here on Monday, even though the Bulldogs lost the match in three sets.

"They came out strong and played hard, they just couldn't finish it," said Coach Dornack. Game scores in the match were 19-25, 23-25, and 11-25.

Stacie Glienke had six ace serves for Aurelia and Erin Laursen had two. On defense, the Aurelia girls had a team total of 17 blocks, led by Shaina Thevenin with six and Heather Ballantyne with four. The girls also had nine kills for the evening, led by Erin Laursen with three and Ashley Anderson and Shaina Thevenin with two each. Stacie Glienke had five assists.

"Digging was ok," said Coach Dornack, "but could have been a little better ... we needed quicker feet." Digs were led by Ashley Anderson with nine, followed by Erin Laursen with six and Amber Loucks with four.

The Bulldogs have their final match of the regular season - a conference match against Schaller-Crestland - at Aurelia on Thursday. The evening has been designated as Senior Night for the girls.

Regional Tournament play starts on Monday in Correctionville, when the Bulldog girls play River Valley in a first-round match at 7 p.m.
