MMC girls drop WEC VB matches

The young Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn volleyball team dropped three War Eagle Conference matches last week, losing 3-0 at Sergeant Bluff-Luton, and dropping identical 2-0 matches to Akron-Westfield and Le Mars Gehlen in Marcus.

Kayla Foresman led the Eagles in hitting at Sergeant Bluff-Luton with a 20-26 effort and five kills, followed by Jalyn Doeden 14-18 and four kills, Erica Dreckman 13-15 and five kills, and Ashley Schneider 10-14 and two kills.

Megan Deichmann led MMC serving with a 9-9 night, while Jackie Holmes was 8-8, Foresman 8-9 with three aces, Ashley Weber 8-9, Dreckman 5-9 with three aces, and Doeden 5-6. Dreckman also led in digs with 10, while Weber had seven, and Foresman six. Schneider led in blocks with seven, Dreckman had six, and Foresman five. Deichmann led in assists with five, and Holmes had four.

Doeden led MMC in hitting against Akron-Westfield with a 13-15 effort and three kills, followed by Dreckman 13-16 and three kills, Foresman 9-11 and three kills, Schneider 9-11 and two kills, and jena Mittlestadt 7-7 and two kills.

Deichmann led her team in serving with an 8-10 effort, while Doeden was 7-10, Holmes 7-8, and Foresman 3-5. Doeden led in digs with nine, and Dreckman tallied eight. Deichmann led in assists with four. Schneider totaled seven blocks to lead that category, and Doeden had five, and Foresman four.

Against Gehlen, Foresman paced the Eagles in hitting with 9-1 and five kills, followed by Dreckman 7-9 and one kill, Mittlestadt 7-10, Doeden 6-8 and two kills, and Schneider 5-5 with two kills.

Doeden led MMC in serving against the Jays with a 5-5 night, while Holmes was 5-6, Dreckman 4-7 with three aces, and Deichmann 3-3. Dreckman had five digs and Schneider four. Holmes led in assists with five, andDeichmann had three. Schneider also led in blocks with six.

MMC plays Remsen St. Mary's Wednesday night in Marcus in Class 1A Regional Tournament action.
