MARCUS - Many folks around the Marcus area are quite familiar with the support offered to help the people of Haiti since local resident Lee Rainboth has made his home there.
On Sunday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the MMC High School Commons, a potato topper meal (with many toppings) will be held with the proceeds that will be raised to go toward the support of Rainboth's work there.
Rainboth helps develop economic opportunities by assisting artistic enterprises. He continues to direct repair of hurricane damaged homes. His efforts help break extreme poverty cycles and bring improved health, education, dignity and hope to the people of Mizak.
In addition to the baked potato meal, there will also be a silent auction of items or services contributed by the Haiti Team and members of the surrounding area. Organizers request that no used items be offered. Suggestions for the auction which would be appropriate are: baked goods, yard work, a home-cooked meal for a specific date or dates, gift items, a holiday floral arrangement, decorating for a party, riding lessons, and so forth.
Any questions about donation may be directed towards Mary Hohbach, Vicki Rainboth or Nancy Hier, or the Grace Methodist Church. Bring the items to the church before 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1. Bidding for the silent auction will conclude at 1:30 p.m. that day. You need not be present to win.
