The Cherokee American Legion Post and Auxiliary Unit 230 met for their monthly meeting on Oct. 15 at the Legion Building, which is located in the former Garfield School.
The Auxiliary had a special guest, Sharon Watts, who did a demonstration of her jewelry making and painting talents. The Legion Post and Auxiliary both were treated to a talk from Ralph Godfrey. He had just gotten back from his trip to Washington D.C. He was one of the WWII Veterans who flew out on the Honor Flight on Oct. 13.
The Legion was very honored to have him speak.
The Legion is going to by having the Annual Soup Supper on Veterans Day on Nov. 11 again this year and they hop a lot of people come to enjoy the supper.
At their next meeting Katie Wittrock is going to do a tastefully simple demonstration before the meeting starts. The public is welcome to come and share in this demonstration. The Legion next meeting will be held on Nov. 19 at the Legion building at 7:30 p.m.
