CORRECTIONVILLE - The Aurelia and River Valley girls opened Regional Volleyball Tournament play here on Monday night, and when the teams had finished their four-set match, the Wolverines were the team left standing. River Valley had defeated Aurelia in the teams' season openers Sept. 1 by a 3-0 score, but the improved Bulldog girls won a set this time around, as RV won 25-7, 22-25, 25-8, 25-14. The second set, when the Aurelia girls stayed in the lead throughout, was "truly the best game they have played," said Bulldog coach Ann Dornack.
Audrey Winterhof led the Bulldog team in kills with five on the night, followed by Erin Laursen with four. Set assists were led by Heather Ballantyne and Stacie Glienke, with five apiece; Ashley Anderson and Erin Laursen had nine digs each, followed by Heather Ballantyne with 7; Erin Laursen had three solo blocks, while Stacie Glienke had two assisted blocks.

Coach Dornack said her team's service was great , with only two errors and 49 successful serves, including three aces, with Ashley Anderson, Erin Laursen, and Shaina Thevenin having one each.
Coach Dornack thanked her girls for a good season and wishes good luck to the rest of the teams still playing.
