The 42nd annual Northwest Iowa Junior High/Middle School Honor Band festival will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7 in Storm Lake.

Approximately 425 seventh and eight grade musicians from 44 Northwest Iowa schools auditioned on Oct. 17 for places in one of two equal bands. These two honor bands will rehearse during the day on Nov. 7 , then present a concert that evening at 6 p.m. in the Storm Lake High School Gymnasium.

Admission for the concert is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Students from the Cherokee Middle School who are participating in the festival include Jacob Fry and Nathan Johnson on trombone and Jacob Kindwall on baritone sax.

Guest conductors for the honor band festival will be Bob Gibson and Dave Snakenberg. Gibson teaches fifth and sixth grade band at Sioux City North Middle School and directs the jazz band at Briar Cliff College in Sioux City. Snakenberg is the middle school band director at South Sioux City Middle School in South Sioux City, Neb.
