Galva-Holstein student selected for All-State Orchestra

Kalli Kistenmacher of Galva-Holstein High School has attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as a member of the 2009 All -State Orchestra. Kelli is the daughter of Jim and Kris Kistenmacher of Holstein and is an instrumental student of Joe Vannatta.

The 2009 Festival will celebrate the 63rd anniversary of this prestigious event. District auditions for the 279-piece All-State Band, 198-piece All-State Orchestra and 601-member All-State Chorus were held Saturday October 24 in Storm Lake, Hampton, Manchester, Harlan, Indianola and Fairfield. Approximately 17% of all the students who audition are selected for membership in the All-State ensembles.

Participants will rehearse in Ames on Friday and Saturday November 20 and 21, and the Festival Concert will be presented to the public at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday November 21 in Hilton Coliseum on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames. Iowa Public Television will record the concert for re-broadcast, scheduled for Thursday November 26 at 7 p.m., and other additional re-broadcast times. Please check the IPTV website (www.iptv.org) for any changes and additions. The program is under the auspices of the Iowa High School Music Association and the Iowa Music Educators Association.

Tickets for the Festival are $15 each, and all seats are reserved. There are three methods by which tickets may be obtained: 1) Iowa State Athletic Ticket Office at the window, available October 26 at 10 a.m. The office is open Mon. - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., and is located on the west side of the Jacobsen Athletic Building at ISU; 2) Iowa State Athletic Ticket Office by mail (on sale Oct. 26 at 10 a.m.). Mail orders will be accepted any time using the form located on the IHSMA website (http://www.ihsma.org/documents/AS_tickets.pdf), but will not be processed until 10 a.m. Monday October 26, in the order in which they are received. If the order is received less than ten days before the performance, tickets will not be mailed, but will be held at the "Will Call" window in the Jacobsen Athletic Building on the day of the performance; or 3) Ticketmaster. Orders may be placed by phone, online (www.ticketmaster.com), or at any Ticketmaster outlet. Phone 1-800-745-3000. Ticketmaster will charge a per-ticket convenience fee.
