The Unity girls totaled 41 points to win easily over the Spirit Lake girls, who scored 82 points. Sioux Center placed third. Cherokee was one of two teams unable to field a complete team.
Becca Ellis of George/Little Rock/Central Lyon was the individual champion with her time of 15:49.
In the boys' team race, the Spirit Lake boys scored 42 points, besting second place Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove by 23 points. Unity Christian was 3rd, Western Christian 4th and Sioux Center 5th. The Cherokee boys were one of four teams which were unable to field a complete team.
Top individual finishers were Garret Ehlers of OA-BCIG clocked in 15:43, Tim Biersma of Hull Western Christian 16:09, Chris Postma of Unity Christian 16:17, and Alec Baldwin (16:38) and Will Norris (16:55) of Spirit Lake.
For the Braves, Jaden Lux placed 69th in 20:31, followed by John Bieber 71st in 21:30, and Conner Ogren 76th in 27:57.
"The weather turned out great, but sickness took its toll on the team," said Cherokee coach Jolene Hultgren of her partial squads. "Several team members missed practice and the meet because of illness, but the season ended on a strong note for the runners who were there."
