LAURENS - The Galva-Holstein volleyball team stayed alive in post-season action here Tuesday, defeating West Bend-Mallard 3-0 in Class 1A Regional quarterfinals, winning by game scores of 25-12, 25-18, 25-16.
The Lady Pirates of coach Scott Mitchell was 60-65 hitting with 30 kills in the match, and served a superb 72-73 with 10 aces. G-H also tallied 28 team assists and 27 digs, along with eight team blocks to advance to the Regional semifinals.
Brooke Wiese and Victoria Andresen led the Pirates in kills with nine and seven, respectively. Jaimie Christensen led G-H in ace serves with five. Dig leaders were Ashley Buell with 11, and Andresen five. Brea Slaybaugh totaled 13 assists to pace the Pirates in that department, and Christensen added a dozen.

"We served aggressively tonight and did a nice job of keeping them out of their offense," said G-H coach Mitchell. "On serve receive, we passed their aggressive serves and were able to get good swings from our hitters.
"We had a little led down in game two, but didn't let it carry over to game three."
The G-H girls roll on in Regional action with a 20-12 match record.
