Wednesday, November 4, 2009

The Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa which includes all Girl Scouts in Cherokee (and surrounding areas) is on its way to new adventures and journeys this year.

If you have not had an opportunity to check out all they have to offer, now is the time. Girl Scouts can join in the fun and excitement at any time of the year, but, why wait?

Girl Scouts grade levels break down as the following:

*Girl Scout Daisy (grades K-1)
*Girl Scout Brownie (grades 2-3)
*Girl Scout Junior (grades 4-5)
*Girl Scout Cadette (grades 6-8)
*Girl Scout Senior (grades 9-10)
*Girl Scout Ambassador (grades 11-12)
*Girl Scout Adult (18 years old and older)

Each age level will embark on their own journey during the course of the year which will age appropriately outline our three keys to leadership: discover, connect and take action.

Girl Scouting is a movement that gives girls from all segments of life a chance to discover their potential and the world around them, to connect with other girls and to take action in their communities, locally and globally.

The Cherokee Girl Scouts have a year of fun planned including Turkey Time fun in November, Carols, Cookies and Cocoa in December, A Kool-Aid lock-in in January, service projects throughout the year and day camps in the summer.

Girl Scouting is the leading authority in girls' healthy development and builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together.

Girl Scout Registration is open to all girls -- at any time - Kindergarten through 12th grade. A $12 annual Girl Scout membership fee is due at registration. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify.

Troop leaders and co-leaders are needed for all age levels to support girls and the leaders of tomorrow.
