State VB tourney

The Iowa High School State volleyball tournament gets under way at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids next Thursday, November 12 , with championship matches scheduled for Saturday, November 14.

No Chronicle Times coverage area teams remain in the hunt for the title, but there are some Northwest Iowa teams who will be playing in Cedar Rapids.

In Class 1A, Gehlen Catholic and Schaller-Crestland are in opposite brackets, setting up a potential title match. Schaller-Crestland (31-3) meets New London (30-9) in their first-round match at 2:15 on Thursday afternoon and Gehlen (29-8) plays Don Bosco (25-9) at 1 p.m.

In Class 2A, Hull Western Christian (37-9) takes on IKM-Manning (33-5) in a first-round 6 p.m. match on Thursday, while fellow Lakes Conference representative Sheldon (37-2) takes on perennial contender Dike-New Hartford (41-3) at 7:15.
