Cathy Reed
Cathy Reed, this month's featured artist at the Cherokee Sanford Museum, is a busy woman.

She works as a teacher's associate at Head Start in Cherokee and teaches painting to a small group in Adult Education at the Cherokee Middle School one evening a week. And, oh yeah, she also also has become an accomplished artist herself in her "spare time."

The Meriden woman works in watercolors, oil and paper collage artwork, and has had her art exhibited in galleries in Sheldon, LeMars, Sioux City and Okoboji. She also does silk dyed scarves, purses, ties and handcrafted jewelry.

Cathy started painting with silk about nine years ago, and it is her favorite medium at this time. She does commission work out of her home, and welcomes special orders of all kinds.

Cathy's work will be on display through the month of November in the East Gallery at the Sanford Museum.

If you are interested in Cathy doing an art project for you, she can be reached at 712-443-8847, and she will also be hosting a "Meet the Artist" Open House at the Sanford Museum on Sunday November 22, from 2 to 4 p.m.
