Starting last week and running through Nov. 26, shoppers at Fareway Grocery Stores statewide can bring non-perishable food items to the stores to help make the holidays merry for needy families in their communities.
Organized by Fareway and KDSM FOX 17, the project combines the participation of Pepsi-Cola, Gurley Nuts, Old Orchard Juice, Sara Lee, Frito Lay, Hostess, General Mills, Mars, Azteca. Fareway shoppers will enjoy The Thanksgiving Tree displayÖa giant Christmas Tree made from these products.
Rich Stearns of Fareway Stores Inc. says food donated by residents of a community stays in that community. "The Thanksgiving Tree" project is a way for every one to fight hunger right in their own backyard. The Thanksgiving Tree made of food is truly a sight to behold and a symbol of people caring for others.
