FREMONT, Neb. - Morningside College's women's cross country team qualified for the 2009 NAIA Cross Country National Championships to be held November 21 in Vancouver, Wash., with a third place finish at Saturday's GPAC Championships here.
The Mustang women, ranked 12th nationally in the latest NAIA ranking, qualified as a team for the National championships for the first time in school history. Nebraska Wesleyan scored 29 points to win the team title, with Concordia University finishing second with 64 points and Morningside tallying 81 points for the third place finish.
Erin Keitges, a senior from Allen, Neb., had the Mustangs' top individual finish with a 4th place time of 18:34.32 over the 5k course, and her Mustang teammate, junior Kara Nelson from Cherokee, was right behind her, with her 5th place time of 18:36.60.
