Each student in grades K - 2 at Cherokee's Roosevelt Elementary School was given a potato, compliments of Taco John's and Fareway grocery store of Cherokee. The students were asked to decorate their potato and return it to Taco John's. When bringing in their decorated potato, each student was given a taco token, good for one free crispy taco. The prizes awarded in each grade level were as follows:
Kindergarten: Best Decorated Potato: Food Person by Winter Claussen, (Wilson). Most Unusual: Witch by Cassady Curtis, (Wilson). Potato that most looks like a well-known celebrity: Turkey by Quinton Olson, (Lux). Honorable Mention: Bee by Makayla Steffes, (Kremer). First Grade: Best Decorated Potato: Bee by Thomas Mowry, (Laursen). Most Unusual: Anhydrous Ammonia Tank by Wyatt Pingel, (Laursen). Potato that most looks like a well-known celebrity: Turkey by Cole Timmerman, (Lockin). Honorable Mention: "Sweet" Potato by Caleb Sayler, (Boekhout). Second Grade: Best Decorated Potato: Snowman by Teagan Ross, (Hyndman). Most Unusual: New York Yankees Batting Helmet by Lexi Waterman, (Pitts). Potato that most looks like a well-known celebrity: Woodsy Owl by Peyton Steward (Hyndman). Honorable Mention: Witch by Emma Vandelune, (Richardson).
