'Toys For Tots' donations sought

Thursday, November 12, 2009
The Cherokee Police Department and their families are again sponsoring the "Toys For Tots" program for Christmas 2009.

The non-profit "Toys For Tots" organization enables the Cherokee Police Department to provide presents for the needy children of Cherokee County at Christmas time. This year approximately 100 children will attend the annual Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 6. Santa will be present to hand the children their presents.

The "toys For Tots" volunteers also tries to provide the needy children with some basic essentials that many take for granted, such as underclothes, clothing, coats, mittens, and hats. Organizers are able to provide the above-mentioned clothing for all of the children, but they try to provide for those who have the need.

"Toys For Tots" relies on cammunity donations, which may be dropped off or mailed to the Cherokee Police Department, 111 N. 5th St., Cherokee, Iowa 51012, Attention Police Chief Steve Schuck.
