Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee. Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate. Burial will be in the Meriden Cemetery. There will be a family prayer service at 9:45 a.m. at the Church on Saturday. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on today with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Marjorie was born March 6, 1925 northwest of Peterson to John and Jessie (Stoner) Reed. She attended school at Peterson, Cushing and graduated from Linn Grove in 1943. She received her teaching certificate from Wayne State College in 1945. She was married to Walter Pritts on Nov. 28, 1947 at Primghar. She had lived in Cherokee since 1993, prior to this in Meriden for a number of years. She furthered her education, receiving her liberal arts degree from Buena Vista College in 1968. Marjorie taught school in Cleghorn, Akron, Paullina, Meriden, Sutherland and Cherokee where she retired in June of 1987. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and Joy Circle. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Margaret Pierce, sister and brother-in-law Ina and Kenneth Joy, brother and sister-in-law David and Louise Reed and a brother-in-law Herb Nielsen.
She is survived by her husband Walter, three children and their spouses; Steve and Diana Pritts of Estherville; Randy and Sandy Pritts of Cherokee; Carol and Randy Woltman of Sioux Falls, S.D.; seven grandchildren: Chad and Melissa Pritts of Olathe, Kan.; Justin and Tanya Pritts of Cherokee; Mark and Stephanie Pritts of Sheldon; Pamela and Rejean Barbeau of Grandview, Mo.; Paul Pritts of Spirit Lake; Lorrie and Jeremy Hill of Olathe, Kan.; Jason Woltman of Sioux Falls, S.D.; five great-grandchildren; a sister Eleanor Nielsen of Spencer; a brother-in-law Craig Pierce of Spencer.
