Dorothy Gano Steenblock, age 83, of Kanawha, IA, died, Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Belmond Medical Center, Belmond, Iowa.

Visitation will be the Kanawha United Methodist Church, Friday, November 13, 2009, from 6-8 PM with a public service to be held Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 10:30 AM at the Kanawha United Methodist Church. The Reverend Cindy Morrision will be officiating. A private graveside service will follow the public funeral service at the Amsterdam Cemetery near Goodell, IA. Dorothy was born February, 26, 1926 in Washta, Iowa. In the early 1940's she moved to California where she worked at Maris Island running a swithcboard and doing payroll for the military. While in California whe met Clark Gable, Gary Cooper, and Curly of the Three Stooges. Later in the 1940's she moved back to Iowa and graduated from high dchool in Cherokee, Iowa.

Dorothy married Harvey Steenblock, on December 15, 1952 in Fort Dodge, Ipwa. They farmed the Steenblock family farm in Goodell, Iowa, for awhile and then bought a farm in Kanawha in 1957.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Steenblock; a daughter, Colleen Kaster; her parents, Hes and Sophie Gano; Aunt Eva and Uncle Gus, whole helped raise her when her mother diedwhen she was 6 years old; and one brother, Junior "Jack" Gano.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Susan (Jim ) Adams of Webster City, Iowa, and Brenda Steenblock of Belmond, Iowa; two sons, Michael (Pat) Mongan of St. Charles, Iowa, and Ralph Steenblock of Kanawha, Iowa; a sister, Bonnie Ramirez and family of California; Jeanine Mc Farland, a special cousin of Rochester, Minnesota; a granddaughter, Kelsie (Jerid) Lallak of Garner, Iowa; three grandsons, Bruce (Julie) Adams of Ames, Clint (Mongan (Kelley) of West Des Moines, and Joshua (Sarah) Mongan of St. Charles; three great granddaughters, Katelyn Adams and Sadie and Ella Mongan; a sister-in-law, Dori Gano, a brother-in-law, Richard (Chea) Steenblock, a son-in-law, Bobby Kaster, and various nieces and nephews.
