High school juniors and seniors were confirmed, culminating a year-long preparation which included attending classes, meeting regularly with sponsors, two retreats, interviews, and service projects. Adults who joined the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil last spring were also confirmed. Religious Education Director from Marcus, Sherill Glassmaker agreed with Cherokee director, Laurie Dreier when she said, "I am so inspired by the maturity that I see in the students as the year progresses. This sacrament is very meaningful to them."
The church in Cherokee was packed as the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus stood as honor guard, adding to the solemnity of the occasion. The music that supported the liturgy was arranged by John Berigan of Cherokee. Music from the "Mass of St. Clare," written by Cherokee parish music director, Sister Janice Hoffman, OSF and arranged by John Berigan was sung for the first time with flute and clarinet accompaniment. Members from both parishes were greeters and lectors.
