Elena Jean Mathahs was born Nov 10, 2006, in Des Moines, the daughter of Jay and Gwen (Geerdes) Mathahs. Elena was baptized at Bethany Lutheran church in Thompson on Easter Sunday (April 12th) 2009. In the three precious years that she was with us she touched as many lives as most do in decades. Elena's smile was all it took to make your day complete. She especially loved watching and playing with her big brother Gunner. She always saved the best giggles for him. Her contagious smile, giggles, "piggies" and wild hair days are some of the things that will be remember most about her.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, John Mathahs, and several great-grandparents.

She is survived by her parents: Jay and Gwen Mathahs of Thompson; Brother: Gunner Mathahs of Thompson, Sister: Ashley Mathahs of Glenville, Minn., Grandparents: Carol Mathahs of Thompson and Greg and Gloria Geerdes of Marcus. Aunts and Uncles: Gina (Cam) Rassel of Marcus; Julie (Tim) Olson of Thompson; Jeff (Laurie) Mathahs of Garner; James Mathahs of Ellsworth, and Joe Mathahs of Thompson: Many Cousins, great aunts, uncles, and grandparents and friends, especially her home care nurses and others that took care of her in some way or another.
