Cherokee Washington High graduate Kara Nelson, daughter of Jim and Sue Nelson, has earned All America recognition in NAIA Cross Country.

Nelson, a junior at Morningside College, earned the All-America designation with her 30th place finish at the NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championships Saturday in Vancouver, Washington. Kara ran the 5k course in a time of 18:54, helping her Morningside team to a 14th place finish in the 32-team field.

Mustang senior Erin Keitges finished 56th with a time of 19:22, and other Mustang runners who figured in the team scoring were Jessica Clark, Lydia Ford and Tabitha Shepherd. Other Morningside competitors were Nicole Seier and Jenna Kraai.

Keitges is the only senior on the Morningside squad, so the Mustangs' first appearance at the national meet Saturday may not be their last.
