REMSEN - All 11 Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn players saw valuable minutes and nine scored at least four points as the Lady Eagles cruised to a 65-21 non-conference victory over host Remsen-Union Tuesday.
MMC coach Shane Williams felt his team played very well and he was especially pleased with the even distribution of points, rebounds, assists, steals, "and even turnovers" among his players. Erica Dreckman led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 19 points, while Kayla Foresman had 10, Rachel McDermott and Jenna Mittelstadt seven apiece, Jalyn Doeden and Stephanie Specht five each and Kelsey Sears, Reagan McDaniel and Ashley Schneider four apiece. Foresman and Doeden each snared nine rebounds and Schneider had seven. Jen Ruba led R-U's scoring with seven points.
Coach Williams said the Lady Eagles' defense, led by the guards, created a lot of the team's offense in the first half, but in the second half, the team played more relaxed, especially in the 4th quarter, when their shots from the field in their half-court offense began to drop.
"Hopefully," said Williams, "this game will give us some momentum going into Friday's game at Gehlen Catholic."
