Private family services will be held for former Cherokee resident and meat cutter, James Stratton, 68, who passed away on Dec. 11, 2009 at Enloe Hospital in Chico, Calf.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Neptune Society of Northern, California, Chico Branch.
He was born in Washta on May 2, 1941 and graduated from Washington High School in Cherokee in 1959. He resided in Cherokee until 1976 when he moved to Chico, Calif. Many good friends and family still resided in the area. While in Iowa, he enjoyed little league coaching and fishing.
Before retirement, he was a supervisor at an agricultural processing plant. He loved vacationing on the coast at Trinidad, Calif. with his long time partner, Dee Hughes.
He was preceded in death by his long time companion, Dee Hughes. He is survived by his son, Doug Stratton (Kathryn Burgess) of Chico, Calif.; two daughters, Diane Kittelson (Guy) of Fargo, N.D.; Dawn Dodd (Jeff) of Porterville, Calif. He is also survived by five grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his former wife and friend, Connie Dau Stratton of Chico, Calif.
