It's a Charlie Brown Christmas

Thursday, December 17, 2009

Lynette Hyndman's second grade class from Roosevelt Elementary School won a Charlie Brown Christmas party at the Sanford Museum. They created sandpaper gingerbread men ornaments and sugar cutout ornaments to win the party. The Museum entertained these Roosevelt Elementary students with the "Charlie Brown Christmas" movie, popcorn, games, and prizes. The students also enjoyed looking at the many trees at the museum. This month's Artists of the Month are the students form Cherokee Roosevelt Elementary School and the Early Childhood Learning Center. The fourth annual Charlie Brown Christmas Tree display is currently occupying the art wall in the East Gallery at the Sanford Museum in downtown Cherokee.

The students got the opportunity to decorate a tree that may not be considered a traditional holiday tree.

There will be one winner declared from each class and that winner's room will receive a party from the Museum on Tuesday. The students participated in Christmas crafts, ate popcorn and watch a Charlie Brown Christmas.

There are currently several trees on display from the young artisans. Their work will be on display all month at the Sanford Museum located at 117 W. Willow St. in Cherokee.
