George H. Yasuda, 92 of Bellevue, formerly of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. Services will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 21 at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 21 from 10 a.m. until service time at the Boothby Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.kingeryfuneralhome.com.

George was born on March 4, 1917 in Kimberly, Idaho, son of Yoshitaro and Yasuke (Miki) Yasuda.He married Henrietta Borrink on Oct. 12, 1957 in Cherokee, and Henrietta passed away on February 16, 1985. George worked as a Poultry Technician in Sioux Falls, S.D., retiring in 1988. He was an outgoing, caring and gentle man who will be deeply missed. He was an avid golfer, and spent most of his free time on the golf course. He is preceded in death by his wife; his parents and a sister, Pris Nagao. Surviving are his stepson, Ronald Johnston, of Bellevue, Iowa; two step daughters, Martheda Dirksen of Rapid City, South Dakota and Dee (Gordy) Engen, of Clear Lake, South Dakota; six grandchildren and one great grandchild; a brother Tommy (Norma) Yasuda, of Royce, Utah; two sisters, Lily (Ralph) Shimto and Mardi (Shig) Motoki, both of Salt Lake City, Utah, and a brother in-law Wally Nagao, of Honolulu Hawaii.
